When he isolates in real life (from that right side high post spot he loves- expect to see a lot of that with my roster), he's in no rush to make any moves.

I've also been perplexed regarding how to make players (mostly superstars) "patient." An example is Carmelo Anthony. I think I'm going to implement a system in which the main ballhandler (usually the starting PG) and/or the main scorer (or best scorer who can create his own shot consistently) will have a much higher "Touches" tendency than other players who get most of their shots from others as opposed to creating them on their own. Perhaps Dirk's teammates' "Touches" tendencies are too close to Dirk's. I'll take a note of what Dirk is doing instead of setting picks (or what Dallas is doing instead of utilizing Kidd/Nowitzki pick-and-rolls), and try to make them do that less, which should put Dirk in more pick-and-roll situations. Maybe Dirk doesn't have enough pick-and-roll plays assigned to him. Three of Kidd's four plays are 1-4 pick-and-rolls as well. Off-Ball Screen plays may be programmed along these lines- "If the player catches and doesn't have enough space to shoot, he will never drive." If that's the case, then I have to make some changes to Dirk's playbook.ĭirk also isn't setting enough picks, even though I have his "Set Picks" set at either 90 or 95, and the rest of his tendencies aren't very high in comparison (only "Isolation," which I think is set to about 50), and Kidd's "Touches" is around 75, and his "Use Pick" at 85. I'll also have to take a note of whether or not players will drive if they get closed out upon when using an off-ball screen to get free. I might need to lower his "Mid Range" tendency. It also might be because he was catching and shooting without hesitation every time he touched it. Maybe it's because I have his "Attack" tendency so low (around 35 or so).

He rarely even drove (I can remember maybe once or twice in an entire half). I also made his "Mid-Range Jumper" tendency very high (around 85), and he shot quite a few jumpers, as he should, but he didn't take any off the dribble. The problem with that, however, is that I assigned Dirk a "Pull Up" value of 85, and a "Drive the Lane" value of somewhere around 75-85 I think (I can't remember right now). Let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback. I really don't want to trade this game in. It may have worked, but if I can, I will give him the 20-30 Drive tendency that I wanted to in a heartbeat. Generally, I very much dislike going to that extreme (0 or 100) with tendencies or sliders, but I felt it was more than necessary. A factor into keeping Rondo from needlessly isolating might have been the 0 "Drive The Lane" tendency I assigned him. I won't say that I can't edit any team tendencies or sliders or else this will happen, but I am walking on egg shells here. Then I left the game I was in and edited some sliders and team tendencies. After making roster edits, I played a game and noticed no out-of-place isos. Now by no means am I saying that I figured out how to fix this, or that this problem is totally resolved (hence the question mark in the title), but I do have my fingers crossed. No one did, except Pierce, who did so when the play called for him to isolate.

I played an entire 12-minute first quarter against Boston and Rondo didn't isolate once. Edited rosters slightly (only tendencies, signature style and some ratings- no team tendencies or sliders) Set everything (rosters, sliders, settings) to default by not loading any files at the start menu (I opened the Xbox guide before it asked me to load from hard drive or memory card, so it skipped the entire loading process since no storage device was selected) Logged onto another gamertag already on my 360 Recently, however, I tried something which may have done the trick. I've tried many different remedies, none of which solved my problem. I've come to calling this action "Rondo-ing," since I'm seeing it a lot from Boston's starting point guard (in NBA 2K11, not in real life NBA basketball). As you know, I've been having some trouble with players acting outside of their tendencies- most notably, seeing pass-first/non-offensive-oriented players isolate and force a shot after a drive without the help of a pick.
